When a child is born abroad to parents who are both Filipino citizens or to one (1) parent who is a Filipino citizen, i.e. one who has not been naturalized as a citizen of a foreign country, the child’s birth must be immediately reported to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) through the Philippine Embassy or Consulate, which exercises jurisdiction over the place of birth.

The birth of a Filipino citizen in Switzerland must be reported at the earliest opportunity (within a year after birth) to the Philippine Embassy in Berne or to the Philippine Consulate General in Geneva, for transmittal to and proper registration within the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

 

Requirements for Report of Birth (ROB) of a Filipino National

  1. Duly accomplished Report of Birth (ROB), in four (4) copies. Entries should be legible. Forms are available at the Philippine Embassy in Berne or the Philippine Consulate General in Geneva, or you may download a copy. See e-copy below or above this page;

If possible, submit a typewritten ROB form in three (3) copies. Otherwise, entries in the ROB form should be written legibly.

  1. Original Birth Certificate (Geburtscchein/Certificat de naissance/Certificato di Nascita) issued by the Civil Registry Office of the place where the child was born, plus three (3) copies;
  2. Marriage Contract (MC) of parents, three (3) copies
  • If parents were married in the Philippines, present MC issued by the PSA;
  • If parents were married in Switzerland, present Report of Marriage (ROM) issued by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate General; if ROM has not been filed yet, parents will also have to apply for ROM. See separate requirements for Report of Marriage.
  • If parents were married in another country, present ROM issued by the Philippine Embassy or Philippine Consulate General in that country.
  1. Photocopy of the personal data page of the passports of parents, three (3) copies;
  2. Self-addressed return envelope with CHF 6.30* worth of stamps (for applicants in Switzerland only). *Cost of stamps may vary depending on weight of documents and destination of mail.
  3. Fees:

 

Report of Birth (payable in CHF only) and in CASH

Certified True Copy of Birth Certificate (if original, Geburtsschein/Certificat de naissance/Certificato di Nascita will be returned to the Applicant) CHF 25.00
Affidavit of Delayed Registration (when ROB is filed more than one year after date of birth of child) CHF 25.00

 

 

Note:

If the submitted requirements are not in order, or in case of inconsistencies in the data therein, the Consular Officer may require additional documentation.
