Submission and Processing of Requirements for Report of Marriage:

The marriage contracted by a Filipino citizen in Switzerland must be reported at the earliest opportunity to the Philippine Embassy in Berne or the Philippine Consulate General in Geneva for proper transmittal to and registration with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

 

Requirements for Report of Marriage (ROM) of a Filipino National

  1. Duly accomplished Report of Marriage (ROM) form, available at the Embassy, Consulate General, and

If possible, submit a typewritten ROM form in four (4) copies. Otherwise, entries in the ROM form should be written legibly.

  1. Original Marriage Contract (Eheschein/Certificat de mariage/Certificato di matrimonio) or extract from the Civil Records of the Swiss Canton where the marriage took place and three (3) photocopies;
  2. Family Book (Familienausweis/Certificat de famille/Certificato di famiglia) and three (3) photocopies. Original will be returned to applicant.
  3. Passports of husband and wife (to be returned to applicant) and three (3) photocopies of data page of each passport.
  4. Four (4) recent passport-sized photos of husband and wife;
  5. If the applicant is a Widow, submit Death Certificate of husband in three (3) copies:
    • Death Certificate issued in the Philippines, must be authenticated by NSO and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)
    • Death Certificate issued by another country must be authenticated by the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate where the certificate was issued;
  6. If the applicant’s marriage in the Philippines has been Annulled, submit Court Decree in three (3) copies.
  • Court Decree of annulment must be authenticated by the DFA;
  • PSA-issued Marriage Contract with notation that the marriage has been annulled must also be authenticated by DFA;
  1. If the applicant has been Divorced from the foreign spouse, authenticated Marriage Contract or Report of Marriage (with former spouse), duly annotated that foreign divorce has been recognized by a Philippine court. Please see separate requirements for Judicial Recognition of Foreign Divorce.
  2. Fees:
    • Report of Marriage (payable in CHF only): CHF 25.00
    • Certified True Copy of Marriage Contract: CHF 25.00 (if original will be returned to the applicant)

Please be reminded that the Philippine Consulate General in Geneva accepts CASH payments only.

 

Reminder:

The marriage of Filipino citizens solemnized in Switzerland must be immediately reported to the Philippine Embassy or the Philippine Consulate General in Geneva.

Applications for Report of Marriage after one year from the date of matrimony shall require the execution and submission of an Affidavit of Delayed Registration of Marriage (form available online), with a fee of CHF 25.00.
